Browser voice, not fake Scottish audio
Every entry includes optional device-generated speech without storing MP3 files or calling an external API.
What the button does
It uses the Web Speech API built into compatible browsers and operating systems, preferring an en-GB voice when available.
What it does not do
It does not reproduce a locally reviewed Scots, Doric, Glaswegian, or other Scottish pronunciation. Device voices may be inaccurate.
Why text remains primary
Visible pronunciation guides and context are available even when speech synthesis is unsupported or unsuitable.
Future reviewed recordings
Human audio would require speaker consent, place and variety metadata, and a separate editorial review record.
